Bullshop
09-14-2012, 11:18 AM
We the Bullshop have finally landed. Things didnt go nearly as planned but at least we are not living under the bridge and just finally got connected to the internet.
I have come to apologize to anyone I may have offended when we closed up to move. I likely didnt handle things well as usual so may have offended some of the very folks that have been so good to me over the years, SORRY!
If anyone thinks my returning may be a problem please speak up and if so I will go on about my business elsewhere. I was going to start selling some lube at some of the gun auction sites but didnt want anyone here to feel like I was snubbing this site. I never meant any offense to anyone and if I have been offensive I apologize.

Oh thank goodness! I am overwhelmed and teary eyed.
The trip was eventful and will take some time to tell. We were stranded in Canada when bridges for and aft washed out. White Horse was in a panic and the grocery store was bare. They had to send in a couple Hercks with groceries. How fragile we are!
We lost a trailer when the entire hitch broke off. When I saw in the rear view mirror my horse trailer take a right turn while my towing buss went straight my quick sharp whitt assesed it was not good. Darn good thing we speek Canadian.
Anyway in my next fitt of bordome I will try to fill in a bit more detail.
At least for the time being or maybe forever dont know for sure we are in Saco Mt.
This should give me a chance to tweak our NASA lube as it seems hot and dry here.
I have been running a blend of Lotak and Speed Green with that darling little copy of the Lyman 107 from NOE and am getting fair results at right around 3800 fps. I bought a used Rem barrel on line that had a previous life as a 222 mag. It is now fit to a Turk action chambered in 22/250. After the first try it was shooting about 3 moa with the 107 and the lube blend. On close inspection it looks like the barrel had never been cleaned as it had lots of copper in it. It took lots of Barns CR-10 but it looks good now.
I hope to see just how well it will do at that velocity. The lube was surely working as there was no sighn of leading at all. That little 107 design amazes me.
Anyway that is what I have been playing with. Oh that and the Trapdoor I hope to shoot at the Quiggley next year, Lord willing. With the Trapdoor 21gn 2400 and a packing popcorn filler with any of the 500gn ish Gov. type boolits has the sight settings spot on out to 500 yards but I have not tries further yet. I need to confirn 600 to 800 and should be good to go. One problem yet to overcome is a spotter for the Quiggley. If someone would care to sighn on for the position and like to shoot as well I will supply the rifle and ammo for the match for both of us.
Thanks for the warm welcome and I hope I can live up to expectations.

If someone would care to sighn on for the position and like to shoot as well I will supply the rifle and ammo for the match for both of us.You'll need to keep close tabs on whether the shoot will even be held. Dry conditions have nixed several others this year.

Were there horses in your horse trailer when it decided to turn right?

There were some, but from people who seem to be 'ME' people.
It's like ... I want this lube and it's not available for me, so I have some bad things to say about the person who is no longer here to provide me with what I want.

They are in the minority, and they will be happy to welcome Dan back as soon as they find out he can once more serve them.

I once moved by Uhaul truck and had ALL SORTS of problems with the truck. On the side of
the truck was this huge painting about "Make moving an Adventure!". . . . . . after three
days of things going wrong in the rain and dark, etc. I promised to just rent
the truck next time - NO "adventure package" next time.

You guys are something else! Kinda goofy but in a real nice way. How have I gotten by these past few months without you!
Felix you do have a way! That seemed to fit perfectly!
About that horse trailer no there were no horses in it but it was loaded with about ten ton of for the record household items. It was realy realy heavy and every time we passed a weigh station I thought I could feel it pulling toward the scales. Thank God we never had to get weighed.
I thought when I saw it go off the road that the trip was over but praise God it was just a minor delay. With the help of a Canadian recluse we got the hitch bolted back on and added a bit of weld for back up. The trailer never tipped over but just skidded to a stop just off the road where it was easy to retrieve and had just minor damage. A bit of rewiring and we were off again.
The next evening after decending Steamboat mountain an 8% grade for about 10 miles we had a flat so stopped to change it. While changing we found the tires were beginning to seperate tread so decided to get new tires at Fort Nelson the next town.
While they had the trailer up with tires off I saw that the spring shackles pivots were so badley cracked it was a wonder how I made it down that mountain.
After runnung all over town to find parts to fix it I was comming up empty until I found a friendly old gentelman that was happy to make the parts for us and get us back on our way. Disaster avoided!!!.
While we were delayed at the town of Teslin waiting for the bridge to be put back in we chose to stay a couple miles out of town simply because with the bridge closed and all traffic on the road forced to wait at Teslin there was simply no place to even park there.
There were lines of trucks just waiting for the road to open and all traffic on the road was hole up there for 6 days just sitting about.
They heard about the family in the buss just out of town and sent the RCMP to check on us. Little did they know that we had enough supplies to have spent a year there and were little changed from our normal life style. God bless them though as they brought out food and water thinking we were distressed.
All in all we were on the road about ten days.

I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with how it was done. They tore this place apart for quite some time with their drama and ignorance as they left. Who needs or wants that kind of garbage in a house of great folks? It's not my place to say "Stay out", but for crying out loud, knock off the drama and B.S.

There is an OLD saying "DO NOT CRITICIZE TILL YOU HAVE WALKED IN MY MOCCASINS"

None of us were there when garbage hit the fan at BULLSHOTS property.

I do not know about many others but there have been several times in my life that I had to forget friends and instead protect the blood members of my family.

Dan and Tina did what they thought was best for their OWN kids at the time.

Let sleeping dogs lie and be glad that they are safe and thought enough of us to come back.

Well, I have to actually say I'm disappointed. You see, I had this grand plan to buy a lifetime supply or two of Bullplate lube. So I spent a bunch of money on a couple of orders and received my desired Bullplate and Lotak. Certain that in 10 years I would be able to put an ad in the classifieds "Vintage Bullplate Lube, aged 10 years to perfection, only $100 for 2 oz.!" I was going to pay for both my daughter's higher educations with the Bullplate in my basement, but now that you're back, the perceived future market value of my investment has plummeted. I don't know what I'm going to do, other than not care when I tip a bottle over. :) Or I'll make some more speed green when the multiple pounds of Lotak are used up, but I like Lotak so much that I don't know why I'd ever make speed green again. Dang it, I'm confused, my long-range planning has been completely discombobulated! Welcome back! Glad to hear you're setting up shop in some way, shape, or form again!!!

Well, I found this a bit later than many of the folks here. It's been busy here these last few weeks. I had to suffer a breakin, a theft of stuff, (luckily only one gun,, but my wonderful better half lost about $8000 in jewelry. But this isn't about us!)

Anyway,, I recall when you made the announcment you were leaving. I didn't know you very well, but I trusted the folks here on the Forum, and I had NOT seen anything to doubt their wisdom. So, I promplty ordered enough Bullplate to last me quite a while,, (I hoped!) I also mentioned in our coorespondence that I wished you well, & hoped you'd return.

Well this is my "WELCOME BACK!" And as far as I can read,, nobody who has posted in this 6 page thread has any problems.

Dan,
You know I consider you and your family MY family.
Prayers have been answered to many in many places.
It was tough asking friends of mine and yours for news when the news was not available. They didn't know or only knew you were safe in God's hands.

Well, Bull-shop, welcome back and with a grand story to tell. Life IS the journey and you apparently Live it to the Maximum.

I received a mould from Milhek after you left and was astonished to find your bull-plate lube accompanying it. It is great stuff and I hope you are planning to resume production once you are on your feet (and wheels) in the Big Sky state.

While I had no prior interaction with you, the accolades on your return speak volumes. I happily and gladly welcome you back, and hope we can continue right where we left off.

And don't worry about Selmerfan, he will manage something sometime to cover his issues.

I too welcome you back Dan. I purchased your Bull Plate lube before you shut down. It's a marvelous product. I am so happy to see you get back on the market. Glad your move was successful if eventful. Be Blessed. Greg

Dan, Welcome back to you and the family. Looks like the trials and tribulations of life didn't permanently change your outlook and attitude as can be the case. That's a good thing. Coming back here is a good thing too. You've been missed. RD

I haven't been on the site for a few days and come back to great news. While I hadn't had any direct correspondence with you, I had read a lot of posts made by you before I became a member. You are a wealth of knowledge and experience and I hope you get back to sharing more of it with all of us. (And your products also!)
A whole hearted.....WELCOME BACK!

I don't know you from Adam (as my grandma used to say) and I have never had any dealings with you. The many pages of kind words and support speaks volumes about you and yours.
I will order some Bullplate when you get ready to roll. In fact, consider this my order.
Life is always full of ups and downs.....bouncing back is the skill we all need to develop.
Let us know when you are up and running.

If anyone wants or is in need of something for the time being you can ask via PM.
We are working on a very simple something for a web site but it may be awhile.
At present I can do some casting if needed and all our lubes are available on request.

Gandydancer I realy like that handle, you see my Dan was a gandydancer for 43 years for the Erie Lakawana. He started when they used steem and worked through the change to diesel. Somewhere I think I still have a target saved that he fired the last time we shot together. I think he was 84 at the time and the first shot was a perfect 10X. I remember watching him squinting to see through the scope that was mounted on a TCR rifle chambered in 32/40 as I was thinking poor old fella just cant shoot any more.
Looking at the Target I am glad I didnt bet against him. I sure do mis that gandydancer!

I have a chance to go on a hunt next month and could really use some .375 lead bullets from you. PM me as what they cost now and how soon you can make me a few.
Might even get some .457 bullets if you make them also.
So good to know you are back in the family and will again be a resource for us to look too.

You wont find us in Alaska on your trip.
We are in Montana now on the Hi Line out of Saco.
A vastly different country it is too!
The loggers that came here early on must have been very good at thier work as there is not a tree in sight.
As my friend in Juneau says, " EARTH FIRST, we will log the other planets later"

Yea you already had it loaded up when I met you and just had a very few out, that was still for sale. I am in no hurry, as I haven't found what I even want one built out of yet. Kevin and I both decided we have to have one though after you showed us some of the ammo, and heard how you liked the caliber. lol
