I got a bunch of these in a trade and know nothing about them. They weigh 150gr diameter .357 and length is .755. Are these lubed already? If not do I pan or tumble lube these? Thanks in advance guys.

Looks like Lyman 358311 to me

If they don't feel lubed when you rub them in your fingers, and I don't see any lube in the lube groove - so if you want to shoot 'em I'd lube 'em.

I lube size mine so pan would be my choice.

Wow that was quick! Thanks for the response. I'm new to the cast boolit world so please forgive my ignorance but how exactly would the lube feel? Slippery or kinda grainy and sticky?

On the lube part that's going to be the tricky part being there's just so many out there. Yours don't appear to be lubed at all actually, if it were that bottom groove would have lube in it. Me personally lube my stuff with a lube/sizer and don't much care for anything else.

Ok next question could I just tumble lube these or do I have to pan lube due to the groove for it?

Hard to tell, could be shadows, but it looks as if that one may already be tumble lubed already. I'd get some lube (or make some) and pan lube just to be sure.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I'll try my hand at pan lubing. Wish me luck!

Conventional lube from pan or lube-sizer application compared to unlubed

Tumble lubed boolits

If your boolits feel wax coated then they may have been lubed up but from the pic you posted - I don't think so.

Pan lubing should be very good for the 311.

use what you have to lube them, it'll be fine.

According to the tumble lube picture by Artful I think these are tumble lubed. Should I still lube them?

It wouldn't hurt anything to lube them, even if they are already tumble lubed. If you just load and shoot them and they don't actually have any lube on them you will probably lead up your bore pretty badly.

Ok well it seems these have been tumble lubed but very poorly. I'm not gonna risk it so I'll try my hand at pan lubing. Any recommendations on a good lube to buy? And a source? Thanks in advance you guys have been great.

Down in the Lube section there is a sticky on pan lubing. Read that and it should answer all your questions and some you don't know you have. If you have other questions ask there.
