This one saved an old man's life who was being beaten to death with a baseball bat by two thugs. Not my purtyest just my nicest. Customized in 1982 by Staff Sargent Tom Loomis US Army Pistol Team.

Here is my favorite, a non A1 Colt. . You can't see it because of the holster but someone left this one in a belt slide holster and it has a 2" wide pitted area across the middle of the gun where it rusted. But it still one of the most accurate 45's I have, and it ALWAYS works.

1911 45/38 conversions. The conversion I have is one of the early ones made by Bo Clerke of the Armory Gunshop of Burbank, Ca., was introduced in the early 60's, barrel is a Colt 38 super MK.1V series 70 reamed out to take the bottle necked case, this little jewel will shoot just about any configeration of bullet you wish to shoot from a 105 swc, full wadcutter 148gr to a 158gr, using the 45 magazine, I have the original Hollywood dies, case conversion to the reloading dies, Ha, with original instructions, (not real clear) on how to use them but I did it. Is a real pleasure to shoot, recently put the red dot scope on it and the slide racker, I need all the help I can muster. Kind of a forgotten cartridge. How many of you are familiar with this conversion?

I was going to try to take an artistic, but good looking picture of my old Colt 1911, with the original Ace 22 conversion kit for this month... However the old Colt is all the way in the very back of the gun safe. We also have a real nice looking picture with a 22 conversion kit posted in the thread already.

Additionally, my photography skills just aren't all that great.

So instead I decided to post a picture of my favorite "No Frills" Springfield 45acp 1911.

When I arrived in Germany December 1972 I was issued a Remington Rand as my personal sidearm with 5/68 Armor. For some reason I got attached to that particular caliber .45. Decided one day I would have one to take the place of "the one" they took back when I ETS'ed in July 74. Took a couple years but found this caliber .45 and happily in better shape than what the pickle suit people issued me. Is not finiky with ammo and plenty accurate out to 25 yards to hit a six inch bull. Not my prettiest but by far the last one I will ever leave behind.

I've got three uppers in .22 LR, 9x19mm and .45 ACP for my Norinco. It shoots like a dream with cast!

Here it is with my .22 LR upper from STI.
Half STI, half Norinco. I call it...

...The Stinco!

Here is my Colt Russian Contract 1911.

The Russians purchased 51,100 from Feb. 1916 - Jan. 1917. The contract mark is lightly struck; serial number is in the proper range. The full Cyrillic impression translates into "English Contract" or "English Purchase".

Here is a close-up of the Cyrillic marking:

I used to be a Colt Snob but now I'm courting Kimbers.

Of the 5 Colts in my collection, 4 have been heavily customized.

Even so, this stock Combat Commander .45 always warms my heart when I see it.

I recall going to gunshows in the '70s when my family's business was casting roundballs for muzzle-loading and I'd see these highly polished jewels.

This one looks just like the one in the picture in the Gun Digest catalog section.

Scored for $650 from the romanticized Small Town Gunshop, in only test fired condition, I'll never part with it... or modify it.

Custom 'retro' Norinco. Parked then baked on dura-coat.

Harrison rear, Millett front sight. C&S hammer, sear, disconnector, Brown Barrel. Trigger from parts box.

It shoots better than I can hold it. I spent a winter doing the stippling on the front strap and Ed brown mainspring housing. For a stippling tool, I used the tungsten core out of a .50 cal armor piercing round.
