Yesterday my wife of 35 years died at age 58. She had a series of strokes and seizures and had been in and out of the hospital, rehabilitation and nursing home for the last 3 months. She didn't seem to be in any physical pain, but suffered mentally, as all she wanted to do was come home and be able to eat regular food, two things she was never able to do in those 3 months. (she had lost her sense of balance and ability to walk and her swallow reflex, and was fed through a feeding tube) In those 35 years she never complained even once about my hunting, fishing, shooting, casting and buying/selling guns. In fact she often encouraged me to go hunting and fishing, saying I should do it now as much as I can because age will catch up and someday I wouldn't be able to.
I was there holding her hand when she died.
I'll miss you Kathy.

You are absolutely correct, your wife is now in a better place. No pain, no suffering. I know it's hard but be happy for her. It's what she would want you to do. My prayers are for you.

Sometimes the final road we take, comes too soon, and other times it is the correct road to take at the right time. Now, as you said, she is a better place. My heart and thoughts go out to you.

There is nothing sadder than losing someone who you spent the best years of your life with. I have been fortunate to be with my father and mother when they passed away. Holding their hand, hugging them, being right there with them. It gives me a sense of acceptance of the inevitable, closure, I'm not sure what the right words are. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Be strong, trust in God's love, we have no clue as to the great design.

There will come a time when the two of you shall be reunited and no sickness or disease or event will ever separate you again. Prayers are with you.
