Ok so I been casting bullets for a few years now. Pistol and Shotgun slugs and some round ball.
I have not given much thought about until casting for rifle now.

My lyman has a scale on it with ranges for lino type, lyman # 2 WW and straight lead.
Are this melting point ranges or casting point ranges. I been casting pistol bullets with WW at 700-750 with a lee mould and hardly ever get frosting.

Now with a lyman mold 314299 with lyman #2(home made version) casting @ 700 I get frosty rough bullets shortly after it starts dropping nice shinny smooth bullets. The nthe chase is on......wrinkles, nice, rough and frosty.
I dont mind frosty so much but the roughness bothers me
