If I get myself motivated, I need to repair one of my garage doors...the spring broke the other day. I have a replacement...just contemplating if/when to do it.

We had a birthday party planned at a local park for my 3-year old grandson, but it was cancelled due to the rain.

At this point, staying inside doing very little (OK...nothing) seems like a pretty good idea.

Work promises to deliver a fairly heavy schedule this week...be lucky to be able to get one day off this coming weekend, so i won't feel to bad if I veg out today.

If I can figure a way out of work Sunday, we have a range trip planned (a few rifles, a couple of shotguns and several handguns).

With my health problems this spring and summer, range trips have been way to infrequent...we have had exactly two (which ain't enough).

Trailed the cows home from summer pasture yesterday, about a ten mile ride after we gathered them all and got going so i am pretty wiped out today! Going to load some .270 rounds to crony later, check antelope blind locations and maybe sharpen my knives since hunting season is upon us. Tonight Miss K is gonna come over and we're going to beer batter some pike and walleye and take a break together! Then back to the salt mine, er i mean college tommorow! Hope you all get to enjoy the end of summer the way you wanted to!

I'm working. At least I'll get holiday rate unless they try to stiff me.

There's college freshman that don't know how to use Excel? I had a pretty good grasp on spreadsheet software by the time I was in college, and I graduated college in 2005.

Went to a BBQ on Sat afternoon.
Headed to town yesterday. I needed more 380 boolits, so I casted some more last night.

We usually go to town Labor day weekend. Its by far the best time to go to town, cause all the town people are camping and playing mountain man. You can get front door parking anywhere you go.

We've been building fence up in the mountains for 3 weeks now (not far from the picture under my name) and have another 3 or 4 weeks left so its nice to come back home Friday afternoon and just sit around for the weekend. I cant even begin to count how many campers, horse trailers and 4 wheelers we saw coming up starting clear back on Monday.

RECUPERATING, hopefully.
Took the new to me canoe and 8 horse motor for a non stop wide open ride 4 hour ride, fished for less than an hour then run back to the landing non stop racing the sun.
This landing is 15 mile rough trail ride that takes an hour and a half each way from the road, so made for a very long grueling day, BUT had a blast and did catch a few nice pike. lol

Caught a bunch of bass last night (every cast for about an hour just at dark) at the lake a mile up the road and will head up into the Olympic Mtns to find a couple grouse this afternoon. The good news is that the blue heron didn't get all of our goldfish and koi in our pond last Tuesday. We saw a few yesterday after being missing for several days. Woo-Hoo! If my wife's slingshot doesn't do the trick, my 410 will if that bird tries it again.

Sittin in an ICU room with my daughter 750 miles from home (where we were on family vacation when she collapsed with a stroke 12 days ago) trying to keep her from pulling out the ventilator or feeding tube, which she seems determined to do.

Just got a break for shift change when they throw everybody out for two hours, hope they keep a close eye on her while I'm down in the lounge.

Spent the last 12 days sleeping a couple of hours at a time in the lounge in a chair (or in my van in the parking garage)...sounds like all you guys are having much more fun than I am.

Found out my new Lee sizer is to small so I can't finish these.

After that I pulled the forms off the concrete pad I poured on Saturday. I roasted a few pounds of sweet peppers and canned them. Tried to get the drivers window up in my truck but the motor bit it. I'm only taking the door apart once so I stopped there. I cleaned out all the concrete dust from my work van and put everything back in place. Made a new batch of 45/45/10. Cleaned up the reloading bench and have been drinking beer ever since. After typing all that it seems like I accomplished quite a bit today.

Worked Saturday, visited with my kids Sunday. Today I took my 358 Win and 30/06 out for a test drive before I start Bear hunting. Shot up an entire box of Rem. Golden Bullets through my Sig Mosquito and Savage 22/410. Tested some .375 RB buckshot loads through the 22/410, worked out pretty good, well good enough to keep experimenting anyway. Had dinner with my Folks and Sister and part of her clan. it's been a good weekend.

Since today is my wife's & my 45th Anniversary we thought we would go out for dinner at our favorite Restaurant. After finding two small steaks in the freezer we quickly talked ourselves out of that & just had a quiet dinner at home. Other than that, we've done just about nothing!

ROLL TIDE!

Mowed grass, eat a little. I'm reading Elmer Keith's "Sixguns" this weekend. I didn't know that there was that much information available on handguns until now!

Even though it's 'sixguns', he goes into detail on the 1911 automatic and double actions. Wow, did he know a lot!

Dragon813gt, good going there, you cast up some good bullets.

Cast some boolits with my new MP 359-640, lubed 'em (I know; didn't let 'em age...), and loaded some in 38 and some 357... made purty holes, right where I aimed 'em, 10 yards away...

Housework too... mow lawn, fertilize for fall, wash cars, make dinner for family... I think I'll shower and have a beer now....

Whenever we travel through Boise, we stop at the Cabelas store to shop and visit the Elmer Keith museum in the store. One should bow before the master of all things handgun.

Might take a ride down the road for some ice cream too. [smilie=2:

I did indeed go for ice cream. Ended up with a small bowl of bubble gum.
Also got off my backside and made cinnamon rolls, buttermilk biscuits, country style ribs, hamburgers and pork chops too! Rolls and biscuits were done in the dutch oven, all else done on charcoal grill. Even packed a small flask with a sip or two of J.D. and made my way down stream in my canoe. Trip back was fast, as I was using a kayak paddle. Man, that paddle has ruined me with a traditional canoe paddle. :groner:

Son Jim came down from Tempe. I cast, and he sorted and gofered, 400+ .45 HP's from a MP mold. When all had cooled down, we broke out the Star and he lube/sized them all, plus about the same number of 452374's I had cast before. He remarked that it took him back to his HS days (he's 48). He took about 20+ lbs of boolits back home to load up...
All in all, a great day.

Hello, everyone, Hope you all had an enjoyable holiday! Well, I finally got a chance to get out to range for some long overdue testing of an original Remington rollingblock Mid-Range .40-70 with British proofs.
If I had of purchased this rifle several years earlier..I would probably be working up a mild smokeless load..but it seems I am becoming more cautious as the years go by..so for this one..which left Ilion sometime in late 1878 or 79'..Holy Black is what it will be fed...Swiss 1 1/2FG. Bullets are Steve Brooks 330gr. Creedmoor, cast 20-1, SPG lube. .030" fibre wad under base.
Start loads..68.0gr. drop tubed 36"..I arived at this charge as this happens to bulk up to bullet base without compression. Test loads going up in 1/2gr. steps.
I brought along a blow tube I made.
start loads grouped in 3" at 100yds..going up to 69gr. & 70gr. gave me an even
1". Three long breaths thru blow-tube kept fouling soft to maintain accuracy.
Now to be honest..I really didn't expect this kind of accuracy 1st. time out! Usually it takes alot more work!
First time out to range this year..I figured I would forget something..and I did..my shoulder pad! Using smokeless in modern type BPCR rifles, I really didn't need it..I had forgotten the black stuff kicks a bit more..my shoulder is sporting some interesting colors! Now busy washing/processing cases for more testing..different bullets, lube, The fun never ends!
