Not even close... Backwoods Home Magazine is a slightly "hippie", libertarian, back to the land magazine. Absolute constitutionalists with articles about politics from the Libertarian side, hunting and fishing, cooking, recipes, Massad Ayoob, Claire Wolfe, and several others.

I'll try to find a copy of the Backwoodsman as soon as possible. Thanks Jim,

Edit: Just found it and ordered it.

Janet buys 'em for me at 'Barnes & Noble'. I would imagine that any decent book store would carry 'em.

I saw your letter Jim! I was pretty excited, but not surprised that another member of cast boolits was a Backwoodsman reader.
Nicely done

To me the key was the address of Floyd, Va. I knew it was our Jim then.

I like the mag, but have to admit about 10 years back when I first started getting it it was better. It was thicker and it was news print pages and not all glossy. I prefer the dull pages and thicker mag to the newer glossy thinner mag. Still a neat read though.

That's a badge of honor for some folks. My parents included.

Backwoodsman was originally printed cut stapled and shipped from the owners garage in a ghost town in Co. It looked like it was cut with a bandsaw and had construction paper covers. I've been buying it ever since, some issues are better tha others but they're all good. I do miss some of the ghost stories it had.

It was a letter to the editor commenting on a past article re shooting round balls in a 38-55 IIRC. Jim said he had been a member of Cast Boolits for 10 years and you could find info on shooting rb's out of any cartridge on the site. It included a link.

Good grief they still publish that? I had a subscription when it was a mimeo more than 30 years ago.
