Greetings,

I am new to the forum, and have no experience casting "boolits". I did some modest reloading about five years ago, but gave it up for health reasons. I loaded 357 Magnum rounds for a Ruger GP100 that has sadly passed into another's hands (with the added insult that it was a pre-Houge grip model). As my health has been improving I have decided not only to replace the reloading equipment I sold, but also to cast my own bullets this time. I own only one firearm at present, my first rifle, a Marlin 22 LR bolt action.

As my budget is very tight right now it will be some time before I can acquire everything I need, but I have been reading and researching as well as keeping an eye out for cheap and free lead. Because of my current situation of no equipment or firearms in a reloadable caliber I will not be able to add much to the forum for some time, but I will be reading a lot, and trying to skip some of the newbie mistakes by being well prepared beforehand.

I am a follower of Christ, a husband of a fantastic beautiful woman, a father of three boys and one girl ranging in age from four to thirteen, a graduate of Lincoln Christian College (now University), a libertarian with anarchist tendencies, a semi-avid reader, a smoker of premium cigars (when I can afford them), a fan of any technology that does not suck (read Microsoft), a big fan of Abbott and Costello, The Three Stooges, and old time radio, I have recently become interested in becoming a "prepper", and I am a native of the worst state in the union: Illinoguns. I am currently unemployed and hope to remedy that situation as my health improves.

I blog occasionally at http://highcaliberguns.com. I am getting ready to start a podcast at http://thesitterdowners.com (named after a Three Stooges short). You can follow me on Facebook at http://facebook.com/jacksonaaronc and on Twitter as @arrowj. You can email me at jacksonaaronc@gmail.com.

I access both the Ammosmith and Cast Boolits forums using the Tapatalk app (http://www.tapatalk.com/) on my iPad 2 or iPhone 4. I occasionally use my 2008 MacBook Pro that is getting long in the tooth, but still performs admirably.

I am also a member of the Ammosmith.com forum using the same user name so I may duplicate posts from time to time in order to get answers from both communities. I apologize for any extra posts this creates for others that are members of both groups.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear of your health problems and unemployment situation, especially with a family depending on you. Good jobs are scarce, but may be found with perseverance. Don't get discouraged.

With your financial situation perhaps the best you can do now is to develop a list of reloading and casting equipment you want to purchase in the future.

If you have any questions about such a list, or imput from the fourm on items to put on such a list, feel free to post a request for help/advice.

Good luck on the job search and, again, welcome aboard.

Living's good on this side of the Big Muddy, hope you can find work and/or move over here. I did that seven years ago and am not looking back.

I post over at Ammosmith every now and then as well.

Have faith, if you're typing He's not done shaping you yet. ;) Welcome!

Welcome aboard Arrow. Sorry to hear of your health issues too. The above quote seems to be conflicted as they don't match philosophically. What's the story here?

Welcome back to the madness. It is an addiction. Get into it slowly, be willing to let us know what you need, many of us have some surplus.

Wilco, a Christian who has not studied Paul??

I donno, Christ ministered to the poor, fed the hungry and provided health care without payment. Sounds pretty anti-authoritarian to me. ;)

Thank you all for the welcome and encouragement. I have four kids so I know how to be patient (when I must).

I love Paul! I Corinthians is my favorite book from the Bible, and I had several courses covering his epistles. When I say "anarchist" tendencies I really just mean that I am almost always against anyone (including the government) from initiating force against another to coerce them into their preferred behavior. I was a stone cold Republican for most of my life, but have come to the conclusion that both parties are really in the same business, namely forcing others to do what they think is right.

At any rate, I plan on discussing these topics with my buddy on our upcoming podcasts, so keep an eye out at thesitterdowners.com if you want to get in on the discussion.
