I'm not sure where to post this so I will put it here. Moderator, please move it if necessary.

Besides casting and reloading one of my passions is collecting and shooting specialty ammunition types. Although I have posted some shooting videos in the past I am now getting serious about it and have decided to produce a series called AMMOTEST. I currently have plans for about 10 videos demonstrating/comparing various Steel Core, AP, API, HEI, Spotter, and Tracer rounds. I will also be examining the performance of cast boolits.

I am an amateur, but my goal is for these videos to be educational, entertaining, and interesting. I have enlisted the help of an ammunition expert K. Gross who is helping me provide accurate information and cross sections (http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Ammo_Cross_Sections/index.htm) of some of the ammo types.

Hopefully some people here will find it interesting. If you like it then please consider subscribing to my youtube channel. Also, I am constantly on the lookout for samples of interesting types of ammo to test. If you have some neat ammo or some ideas then please contact me.

I would not attempt these myself, but have a little constructive critisim. At about 25 seconds into the video, when you are talking about the core, you sound like you are not sure what the core is made of, although you have the information on the screen. Other then that I think it is a great video and look forward to seeing more.

Also, back in the late seventies I had picked up a pckage of .38 spl. A single bullet contained six slugs. Almost like shooting 00 buck from a handgun. They were sold in a six pack and were a bit pricy as I remember. I do not know if these are still made, but if you plan on doing any handgun ammo these could be fun.

Yes, this was because I had not heard back from the gentleman that was researching some stuff for me so I had to speculate on the core's composition. Of course, shortly after posting the video I got an email from him with the technical details. Ends up he was consulting with some others to ensure accuruacy. All I could do was add a text annotation at that point because I had already linked the video to various places... it would have been a mess to delete it and re-upload.

You are right, that does sound neat. I would bet it could be made somehow at home.

the most common ones contain three.
remington put out a load in the late 50's.
the boolits were shaped like a chevron and fit tightly together to keep the projectiles close enough together to hit the target.

Added another video, 7.62x39 ammo quiz, see link in first post. Any input on identifying these rounds would be greatly appreciated as a few are questionable to me. Thanks.
