Hi everyone, saw this yahoo article and thought it may have some relevance for our community since we tend to handle lead quite frequently.

Hope its ok to post links to other sites here, if not, mods please make the necessary adjustments.

I have suffered from gout in the past. Interesting thing is, never during the periods when I was actively casting. I cast in my early to late 20's and have started back since I turned 40 a few years ago. My gout attacks were all in my 30's, thankfully haven't had one in awhile.

Gout attacks suck. I've concluded most of mine have been due to a combination of diet and typically some sort of blow to my foot that causes just enough swelling and decreased blood flow to allow the uric acid to chrystalize.

read the article, yada, yada, yada. Another reason to outlaw lead in the world. Most interesting part was that mushrooms absorb and retain lead form the soil.
