I'm looking for a 375-420 grain bullet to run in a .416 Rigby, those J-bullets are sorta SPENDY.

Thanks much,

Since my wife and daughter gave me my .416 Rigby (Ruger #1) ten years ago, I've been shooting the RCBS 416-350 design. In a word, it's PERFECT for my uses.

In straight wheelweights my mould casts at 365 grains, which is very close to your desired 375-grain figure. The bullets drop at about .4165", and are just barely touched by my RCBS .417" sizing die.

Accuracy has been very good, and I have no quarrels whatever with the design. This mould is available from www.midwayusa.com. Loads have ranged from 1100 fps with Unique to over 2600 fps with IMR 4831. I use dacron fill with almost everything except the full-power loads.

For more designs, go to www.neihandtools.com and check out their stuff, too. Select "catalog", and go to page 9, where they have two bullets in the 375-grain range. I have the NEI 421-390 for my .404, and it also works in the .416 Rigby when sized at .417". It runs a bit heavier at almost exactly 400 grains in my WW alloy.

Any of these should work well for you. Good luck, and let me know what you decide. A search here for ".416 Rigby" should bring up some useful data, and also do the same on the
www.accuratereloading.com website.

Speaking of costs, Midway now lists Jamison International .416 Rigby unprimed brass at $34.99/20, which is HALF the cost of Norma .416 brass. Next time I order from Midway I'll get some of this brass for a trial. All my current cases are by Norma and it's very good brass indeed.

I too use the RCBS 416-350 mold for my 416 Taylor. Never have shot a J-bullet in it.

I am well satisfied with it and think you would be too. Recoil is managable, but stiff, so I can only imagine what heavier boolits would be like (even at 1400-1600 fps).

Try one...you'll like it.

Cool, thanks guys!

I'm running the 400 grainers at about 2150 which in the CZ550 is a very managable load ( I have been accused of being recoil proof tho). I'll look into the listed sources as soon as I'm back on US soil.

thanks again!

Add me to the list of happy campers with the 416-350. I stole mine...fellow had it listed for $55 with the .417" sizer, top punch, and over 950 gaschecks shipped.

I didn't have the heart to haggle....
