I have a 44/40 with a groove diameter of .429 and would like to use the Lee 429-200-RF. Does anyone know what diameter the Lee Mold actually produces? I will be using an alloy of about 30-1 or 25-1. I would like to end up with a bullet of .430.
Thanks,
Ferret Master

When I run mine through a 0.431" sizing die it is slightly sized.

Each mould varies, every alloy drops a slightly different size, mould temp and alloy temp play a part too. In short, it's a krap shoot. As a broad rule, Lee moulds cast about a thou or a little more over nominal based on what I see in my moulds and what others report.

Mine runs about .430. Funny thing that you should mention it though. I just came across my 2 cavity mold while hunting for something else and dug it out for a trial run from my Red Hawk.

Mine run .430 - .431, Alloy is COWWs +2% tin + 30% lead unless range lead is used which I add tin and lead to. I keep the BHN in the 10 - 12 range for loads pushed only to 1000 fps in a revolver (44-40 or 44 Magnum)and 1200 fps in my 24" M92 rifle. I size lube at .430.
