Unc;
What are you going to use them for?
I keep plain base bullets below 1400fps, with a/c wws and good lube, those speeds do not lead and are pretty accurate.

Same question, what rifle?

These would be for "Smelly Nelly" (the rifle not the cat)

I don't plan on exceeding 1600fps probably closer to your 1400 fps especially the 450s. Mainly for range and woods plinking but also planning a wild cattle hunt in the near future.

Try 20.0 grs. SR 4759 (used to be Dupont), NO filler, large pistol primers. My lube was the old Lyman Ideal, this load was VERY accurate in every .45-70 I had, low velocity, mild recoil thus very pleasant to shoot. Don't know if SR 4759 is still available, I stocked up 20 years ago.

I have the Lyman 457122 hp which casts out 340gr with ww. Been putting AA2230c under them at about 45gr for 1450-1500fps. 2230c is right at the same as 2460. Good easy shooting load that whizzes right through Missouri whitetail with totally acceptable results.:mrgreen: Should do the job in Smelly Nelly.

I use Lee #457-340 340 grain, Lyman #457121 470gr and Lyman #457198 420gr. in my Siamese Mauser. The 2 best powders I have found are AA5744 and 2400. I'm at work so I can't look up powder weights, but velocities were all around 1400. Killed several deer with the 340gr and 420 gr with no problems, boolets passed through and could still be going. Alloy was ac wheel weights+a little tin.
