While searching for some parts for a garden tool, I explored every nook and cranny in my house, garage, and shop. Never found the parts, but I ran across something I had long forgotten having.
This is a round ball bullet mould I bought back when I thought I was about to buy a Colt 1851 Navy. The fact that I didn't get the pistol still galls me, but I am offering this mould for auction as a donation to the site.
Now for the description that will drive the bidding through the roof...
Back before Shiloh Rifles moved to Montana and adopted that name, the company did business as Shiloh Products Inc. in Farmindale, NY.
Besides building rifles, they offered a pretty complete line of moulds for blackpowder guns.
I have two moulds from them, this one...and one for the .45 Maxi-Ball. The Maxi-Ball has always thrown fine bullets for my TC Hawken. Both are anodized aluminum moulds.
I purchased this one (new), back in 1974 or '75. It has never even been warmed up, and the factory lubrication is still on it.
Both blocks are stamped identically, with 376J at the top and 0082 at the bottom. The box (still in fine shape) indicates it casts a .376 diameter ball.
The shape of the mould makes me believe it leaves no 'neck' when the sprue is cut off (probably why I chose it).
The sprue pivot is a slot-head screw which is held captive by a slot-head set screw. Neither have ever been turned.
The original mounting screws are present and un-messed-with, and the slots will accept my old-style Saeco handles as well as the tongs from Rick Kalynuik we had the group buy on. Lymans should fit, and RCBS will have a little slop.
I am guessing this mould is more desirable to a collector, but I'm sure it will make good fodder for your Navy, if you shoot one.
I'm not planning to post a picture because there's nothing much that's remarkable about a round ball mould. But I will if you require it.
I'd like to see the bidding start at $20.
If it isn't worth that much for a good cause, I'll keep it.
CM
EDIT...
Three days and no takers. I'll give it two more, then pull the offer.

So be it. Offer withdrawn...
