There's an article on the front page reporting on the DC Federal district courts decision in Parker vs. The District Of Columbia striking down DCs anti gun law on second amendment grounds. It also quotes several liberal Professors who support the view that the second amendment guarantees an individual, rather than collective, right.

"The earlier consensus, the law professors said in interviews, reflected received wisdom and political preferences rather than a serious consideration of the amendments text, history and place in the structure of the constitution."

They do a bit of back peddling, and quote both W. Burger and Dennis Henigan in support of gun control, but the headline is " A Liberal Case for Gun Rights Helps Sway Federal Judiciary". And it's the front page, not an Op-Ed.

IMHO the NY Times has been one of the major promoters of the misinterpretation of the second amendment for years. I see this as the start of a major tear in the fabric of the anti-gun segment of our society.

The New York Times has an online edition where you can read the article. Registration (free) is required. The article may only be available online for a week or two. Then it goes into the archives where they charge for access.

I'd just come here to post the same thing.

Whodathunkit? A balanced article on "A Liberal Case For Gun Rights":

(Free registration on the Times site required to read it. I'd copy it, but it's a two pager.)
