My town celebrated pioneer day this weekend with our parade and rodeo. There were speakers and a choir. My crew all drew for mutton and calf riding at the junior rodeo.
I am the one with the cowboy hat with the checked shirt. Our mayor is the big man with the red shirt on the tail gate.

I have been running like crazy being on the city council. We had been prepping for months.

My youngest daughter rode her first sheep(mutton bustin) Friday. I did not force her to ride in fact I told her she didn't have to and she climed aboard anyway.. She had hurt her arm. She cried after coming off the sheep but was easily comforted. I checked her out and she seemed fine. She kept compalining so we took her in for xrays. Well my first kids with a broken arm. I feel bad but she was excited about her hot pink cast. The break is nothing serious. And around here it is a badge of honor. All family members have signed the cast and she'll make the rounds at city council this week.

Good looking group of kids. She don't seem bothered by the injury.

Our Pioneer Days is also on Tuesday.

A neat trick I learned years ago.

When a lil one gets an OWIE and comes running with tears and noise, whip out that BIG RED BANDANA.

Give it several twists and apply gently to the owie and tie a knot.

Now you know how to make and apply A HERO'S BANDAGE.

This has worked for more years than I want to remember for my and total strangers kids. Turns off ALL tears and brings a BIG smile to their face.
