I have enquired about a marlin in 30-30 and the dealer in Australia has emailed me this (terrible quality) scan of the Marlin 2012 catalogue.

It purports to state there is a marlin 366 laminated 30-30. Does anyone know anything about this new model designation?

Does anyone have this catalogue in better quality? On the marlin website they still only have the 2011 catalogue.

Yup. It's the XLR. Pricey.

I think the 366 is misprint, it looks like the 336W now comes with a laminate stock. I think that is a good idea, rather than boring lumber grade hardwood or (puke) plastic.

Yes, maybe a misprint or maybe the 366w is to differentiate the laminated from the plain beech base model.

I don't think it is the XLR model - aren't they all stainless and grey laminate?

You are correct. My mistake.

I think the 366 is misprint

+1 - Why would people not familiar with Marlins catch/edit the error ? . [smilie=1:

Well, it wouldn't surprise me if Marlin or any other gunmaker used a model number slightly different to denote a special model. For example the Winchester 94 has also been called the 1894 and 64 over the years.
