This whole project is fault of following Dubber 123 with his double rifle project and his exellant post of it. I decided I could do it to and set some very clear objectives. Keep psi to 11000-1500 psi, 180-215 gr boolit to 1500 fps and be able to shoot bp in cartridge if so desired. I finally found this hammer gun in a pawn shop from germany, very solid but broken stock. I do not have the funds to freely blow so I had to do with what I had. A shotgun butt stock from prior junk buy, 2 303 take off barrels, some odd ball sling mouts and square metal stock. I cut the barrels to 23 inches, fit the 303 barrels , machined the rear and front ramps, fit the stock and made new forend, reblued and here it is. The gun is exceeding my wildest dreams so far. At 70 yards it shoots very nice groubs from both barrels. They cross at 35 yards and at 70 are 3 inch apart. Not good for a purist but the way they are groubing with the same load I am not complaining. I thought I would have to rebush the pins but on driy fires they put a nicer dimple on primer than most rifles. Extractor took the most time to make. I am well pleased, it gives me a feel of africa right here in mo. and reminds me why I don't like heavy guns!

nekshot....looks great. Did you sleeve the entire length of the shotgun barrel or did you make bushings ? If you used bushings how long are they ?? Did you bore the shotgun barrels before lining or bushing ? A breach side photo would be neat sir....

Thank you,

rick

jumbeaux, my daughter has to do the picture thing and she is gone again. I turned the chamber end of the barrels to original 12 ga dimensions. I had to slim the barrels to slip over the forcing cone in shotgun barrel. I made bushings and drilled off center for the inserts around the rifle barrels. They are 1/2 in long. I put silicon on barrels and placed the in shotgun tubes, then I adjusted the bushings till I got them the closest at 70 yards. I put some accra glass on the bushings so I can move them with future load developement of which I promise you there won't be much of that as it really is shooting good. The right barrel is sighted right on. The left barrel is on at 35 yards and 3 inches to the side at 70. I told my son out hunting use the left barrel for close shots and the right barrel is dead on for further shot if needed. I made one major mistake. I should have cut the barrels 1/2 in short at chamber and ran a reamer in them then both barrels would have the same chamber dimensions. I kinda got lucky on these two barrels. I tried to do my home work on the strength and limitations of this gun and I pray nobody venture into this before they inform themselves of the safety issues. If ever we want to change the rifle barrels can come out and the gun would make a sweet pb round ball shooter. I have some major health issues right now and this project has been therapy for me, but I would never do a side lock again. Too complicated and you do not get the strength at the stock without alot of major inletting and glass work.

Hi neighbor. I'm also in sw MO. You did a very good job. Your case is also nice. I think the rifle looks like a high end double with a nicely figured stock.

That sure looks nice.
Way to go.
I have often wondered just how much steel could safely be removed from a insert.

Just a thought. Is the pressure range correct or based on case head thrust can you go a bit higher?

Oh yes! That is the coolest ever! Seeing that, I might think along the lines of a 25-303/303 combo. Regulating might be a problem but then there might be a solution to that problem. Something to think about. (Or a 35-303/303 combo!)

I have been thinking of a 303 single barrel built onto a shotgun action. Looks wise, there's nothing to beat that double!

Jeffinz, I had my goals for performance and I have achieved that. This gun to me is a novelty and I am happy with it. I will say this it is incredibly accurate for a sleeved gun. The same load in other 303 rifle gives normal size groubs around 2 inches compared to the sleeved double. The right barrel gives 3/4 inch groubs and the left barrel stays around 1.4 inch groubs with 3 shots each. This why I said my load development is done. It has gone past my wildest dream of what I was hoping to achieve accuracy wise.

Love it when a person dreams the dream of a gun they would like to have and then make themselves a very nice gun to their specs.

Yeah, I think maybe you have the wrong Solution to the Poor Mans Double Rifle Problem.

Going to be used up close on Dangerous Stuff.

So...12 Gauge Magnum With Smooth Bores makes more sense.

At 30 Feet I need 3 Inch Magnum Slugs more than I need an Accurate shot at 100 Meters.
