anyone here ever use the RCBS 38-162-swc bullets? I am loading them with 6.5 grains of Win 231. With my 4 inch barrel they should be in the 1100 FPS range. I was going to try this load as a general use load in my .357 or use 2400 to get the velocity between 1200 and 1300 FPS out of my 586. This is the only .38 cal mold i have that uses a gas check.

I really see this mold or bullet weight mentioned. I was curious about how many folks might have this mold and what loads do they use with it?

............Hey argonaut, welcome to the board! I have the mould and besides using it in the 38 Special and 357 Magnum, it works well in the.................

............... 38 Super.

It's a good boolit, but I can't say that it's any better then say Lyman's 358156. There may be small dimensional differences here and there that someone could use in some application over another SWC design.

A couple years back a few of us did a test on full WC's. We all used K38 S&W's, and we all used the same powder charge (2.7 Bullseye). Boolits were from H&G, Lee, Lyman, RCBS, and Saeco. The only difference was lube and the brass we each had on hand to use.

Each revolver shot some designs better then others, but not one design was a clear cut winner over any other in all the pistols.
