As I said before, I shot that Glance-proof Ness boolits in the Garand just to check function. Most any cast boolit with function the action of the M-1. Read my piece on the link below for that.

Yesterday I only loaded up 10. 2 for fowler's and 8 in the clip to target. The alloy is WW, and it's so soft the the hollow point spreads just a bit while seating in the case because the seating stem is pointed for condom type boolits. I got an honest 4" group at 100yds. Just firing them as fast as I could get the sights back on target before the wind started again. That's with no load development. Just picking a load out of the book thats functioned the gun before...36gr H380 with "NO" filler. I've a feeling it could do better with one. Why H380? It's not usually even considered in cast shooting or even M-1 shooting. When I started that article, all I wanted to do is see if the gun would function with whatever powder & boolit was on the shelf. Even the little super-flat 32-20 311316 at 112grs. will work. Pictures of this last group and others are on the putfile link.

That's really odd. H380 started off as a batch of surplus WC852 powder, originally made to load US Cal. .30 M2 ammunition. Bruce Hodgdon named it H380 because 38.0 grains of it shot so well under a 52 grain Sierra hollowpoint in his .22-250. The surplus stuff has long since been replaced by other powders of new manufacture and of closely similar performance, of course.

Fired 10 through my Kimber Husqvarna 308 just now using the standard 22gr H4198. Scabby 'ol mixed military WWC cases. The group was 5" wide by 2" high. Wind blowing at 45 degree angle from behind at 15mph gusting to 25mph. So much for wind bucking ability. That gun was my cast boolit hunting gun up to 5 years ago and is capable of sub-inch groups. Took 7 deer one year with 31141.

It really doesn't look like a wind bucking bullet.
