What present would you give yourself?

I'm sorry, I guess I just don't understand how someone else's preference would/should influence what you want? My vote is none of the above; I would just like to see my 40th birthday again :-)

Couldn't agree more!

Which one do YOU really want??

If you don't have an AR15 and want one, build one and stock up on magazines. The future of black rifles is less secure than the other types of firearms you listed.

Muzzle loaders' future is pretty secure...I suppose. You should be able to get one any time.

Got a nice Garand, don't have a huge interest in charcoal burners and already have a couple so might as well build one of those AR receivers that are sitting in the safe. Like Olevern said, though, turning 40 again might be nice.

None of the above. A .50cal BMG rifle. Or better yet Browning M-2. Since I am dreaming why not dream big.

Think about it like this: when I go to the range nearly every other person is shooting a black rifle. They all have different geedunks on them, but who notices?

Now when I shoot my buddy and I show up and shoot flinters or percussion muzzleloaders all the black rifle boys come to watch. People ask if they can try one out and we always let them.

So it's a no brainer. Black plastic and aluminum or hand carved high relief on a wood stock? Magazine full of little .223 (you'll need them) or a single well-placed ball from a .58 or .62?
Buy the real "black rifle" that shoots real black powder.

PS-My preference is for a Allen Boxlock action with a .58 barrel. If you don't like it, I'll let you know when my birthday is coming up ;)

My last birthday was coincedently timed with my purchase of a 71 Chev camper special.

But if I were you and I liked AR's....then AR it is

My AR's are .300 and 6.8, not the tiny 5.56, although the 5.56 is cheap to shoot, all of them are fun to shoot. I was 42 when I got my first AR, after 2 years I still love shooting them.

Pull out one of these and start dropping silhouettes at 75 meters! It brings most plinkers to a sudden stop when they see targets drop, one after the other.

With this particular kind of accuracy:

Now that, my friends is a handgun.

At 66 I would like to have my old 56 pan header chopper back and ride around the capital square in madison wis. with the H. Angles again. 1969-70, But a 58 Cal. slug rifle would make me very happy also. One like Webb terry shot at Friendship in the 80s, Joe

I don't see it in the favorites list, but I think I would just get 2 20 year old middle aged women. If I was single.

I would like to be 40 again. It has been so long that I don't even remember what I got. But I do remember my 45th birthday I got myself a Colt Combat Elite 45ACP.I thought that fit the occasion pretty well.........Terry

Does a wife that is 31 close enough?

I am leaning and will probaly get an AR15 with a 20" barrel. The others can be Christmas presents.....................

I voted "build AR-15" but I meant something in a larger bore than .223.

The Schoefiled is a greta idea , too!
