I have read all the references to the 8mm KAR here, and got one of the new moulds. It throws a huge 8mm bullet! At 237 grains it is the heaviest chunk of lead I have loaded in a cartridge. They measure .327 across the bands as cast. Generous for sure! I may wind up sizing them down a bit as they are tight in a fired case neck!

My question is what have you been using for powder (velocity?) and are you hunting with this bullet? Sizing at all?

I intend to hunt with this bullet and hope to get up close to 2000fps. The big flat nose ought to make an impression at that velocity. I am gas checking them.

A lot of people here load this boolit. Check the archives. It's supposed to cast out at 0.326".... looks like Lee got it close this time instead of way oversize.

Been throught the archives but still asking the same questions... I am about to try IMR 4350 to see if I can get to my velocity target.

Look for KARIBINER not KAR.

A-HA! Karabiner! Thanks Bret 4207.

Moonie: have you ever hunted with this boolit? I spent some time last night loading up 43 grains of 4350, and I do have some 4895. The throat on my mauser is pretty tight so of course I am seating a considerable amount of bullet below the neck. I will have to get out when the rain quits and see what the chrony says, and how the targets look.

I have not but I wouldn't hesitate to do so.
