I got a new mold the other day. It's the best mold I have ever got from Lee, the boolites drop out nice and size is dead on. They do cast with WW at 308gr and gas checked come in at 316 grain's but I wanted a big boolit anyhow.

The one problem I have is finding a heavy load for my Ruger's. I'm thinking something like 20.5gr of LitGun may work out.

Any one have a load to pass on?

The link showing the boolit mold is below if you care to view it.

Thank you,

Tim

Buckshot would be the man to check with on this. He's got a lot of experience at running heavies down .45 Colt Ruger barrels.

I use that same boolit in my .454 Casulls. It's wonderfully accurate in .45 Colt as well. I don't load hot for .45 Colt, but I do use Lil'Gun behind this in my .454's. In a Ruger .45, 20 grs. Lil'Gun sounds reasonable if worked up from below.

Looks like 20.2gr. will see you through a 325 in a CPB. That is a great bullet. Beware the 6 banger mold has a smaller meplat! (Much to my dismay, I found out the hard way.) They simply don't make them with the large meplat in the larger mold.

I have that mould but it has been a while since I loaded the boolits from it. For one thing, though, my WW must be heavier.:???: Mine weigh closer to 325. And this is from memory as the records are in storage right now, but my memory is pretty sure my top load was on the high side of 20 grains of H-110.

My most accurate loads in the .45 always works out to 21.5 gr's of 296 with all of my heavy boolits from 300 to 347 gr's. Seems to be a magic number. I use a Fed 150 primer.

twoworms, I use 12grs of HS-6 under that boolit. Gets me close to 1000 fps out of a 4 5/8" blackhawk and 1200fps out of my 20" Marlin. Got that load off of John Linebaughs (sp) page.

We are talking 45 colt here aren't we?

I've used that boolit for 7 years now in my 45's
Seat on top of 18.5 grains of 2400 for a super duper hog and elk smashing load, or seat it on top of 6.5 grains of red dot for a 850fps load that's scary accurate and smacks the bejeezus out of anything it hits.

Thank you for all the posts, I have a few loads to look over now.

I have three Rugers in 45LC, and want to find a good hunting load for two of them.

Thanks again for the post, someday soon, I'm post some data on the load I use.
