I got rich today, made $40:grin:
I was paid 215/ton for 56 lbs of prepped steal = $6.02
.20/lb for 145 lbs WWs- clips and dross =$33.80
.60/lb for one pound of aluminum = $.60
total was $40

I can't believe they gave me .20/lb for WW clips, zinc turds and dross

Didn't turn in my scrap pile of empty brass they quoted only $1.40 lb

What are you getting for empty brass?

I don't have a clue as to find the price of brass, is it on Kitco.com?

I had a similar experience with the local scrappers. I don't remember the exact price but I got $14 for a bunch of clips and dross.

My local place pays $2/lb for yellow brass.

Are the considering empty brass "yellow brass" because I know there are different grades of brass.

Based on what I've heard here, the recyclers consider cartridge brass and spent primers yellow brass. I've been saving mine for a while. One of these days, I'll take it in. Mike

I don't remember what they called it(I think just straight #1 brass), but I got in the $2.75/lb area for my brass cases and spent primers. Another place wouldn't even take them if I gave them for free, he said the place that buys his scrap would reject the whole load if they spotted anything ammo related.

Yes

That has been my experience but it all depends on who you take it too.

Several posters say that they buy scrap lead from their local recyclers but mine won't sell any of it for any price.

The scrap yard I go to will NOT sell to the public, but they will if you've dealt with them before, they also trade with me. They won't sell hundreds of pounds unless you have a dealers license. I always keep my eye open for Tin Sn they treat that like lead.

I thought cartridge brass was white brass, the highest grade. But scrappers probably won't pay any different unless you've got a truckload.

Should have the zinc weights separate. They are worth way more than $.20 per #
