I recently saw that Lee has come out with a new mold with a slightly heavier bullet in this diameter (i.e. 309-230-5R). Now, it seems that the mold was originally intended for the 300 AAC, but has anyone tried it for a M1A?

i don't think it has a gas check shank and is intended for sub sonic.

So, you're thinking that as long as someone intended to make a subsonic M1A, it would be acceptable? Kind of seems like a waste...

Looking at the model number, it says "-5R" which should be a more pointy bullet since the "-3R" is more pointy than the "-2R" or "-1R"...

someone posted a pic of how it fit the aac case somewhere here, but i cannot remember where.
bruce b. has some very good articles on shooting the m-14 with cast in the stickies section,he chronicles loads and boolits.
i would suggest p.m.'ing him but he just had an operation and is recuperating.

I would try the Larry Gibson load of choice in a 30cal gas semi-auto. The 311299 or any 200gr GC with 4895. It is a proven winner in my book.

thats the 28.5 grs of IMR-4895 wih a filler.
it's one of my favorites too, it proved the clear winner when we shot the lineal dispersion tests as part of the original rpm thread.
maybe i should ty it in my m-14, i believe i still have some made up from those tests.
