Will used walnut media work well to flux wheel weights when smelting ?

I suppose it would but it would be adding whatever dirt it has picked up back to the melt. I just use dry sawdust for most of my smelting flux. Cheap and works very well.

Nasty dirt in that used media....more than just dirt.


Clean walnut worked some what for me.....

Then I got my hands on a lot of walnut shavings from hand planing....wow..

Perfect thick ash barrier. Thats what you're looking for.

I like shavings from hand planing not the dust from my table saw.
