Two bad guys turned into good guys. I've been in that little mom and pop store many times, spoken with the owner, he's a good guy and probably would have just let those two punks have the cash if they hadn't of beaten him. They got what they deserved.
The two punks were 2 high school kids with extensive records already.

That is the good kind of gun control.

He needs to find a good lawyer right now, you know darned well that the creeps families will try to sue for wrongful death or some such foolishness.

I don't wish death on anybody, but, hey, you get what you bargain for. I learned a very long time ago to leave old men alone. If they can't whip you, they'll just kill you.

Actually in NC we are protected with new laws as of December 2011. We can't be sued by family of the bad guys if it is a good shoot.

Did anyone see this statement by Sheriff Webb?:

"Unfortunately they're just two young men that did something very uncalled for,"

First off, they weren't "men", and second of all, beating an elderly store owner while robbing him and trying to shoot him might call for stronger condemnation than "something very uncalled for." (I'll let each individual decide if the outcome was unfortunate or not...)

I hope the Virginia reporter who was mugged alongside his girlfriend took note on how to properly respond to the criminal element when attacked.

Sounds like we all are fortunate that these two thugs are off the street.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Now I can't get Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" out of my head.

As they say, "you play with rattlesnakes long enough and you WILL get bit" These vermin "played" with guns a little too often and got bit. I am glad the store-owner wasn't hurt any worse than he was. And, since there were other shots fired, he shouldn't have any difficulty proving his shots were justifiable.

Too bad it wasn't video taped.....that way maybe someone smart will show it to schools, and let the kids know, you want to be a thug, vandal, ect ect, this is what could happen to you.

Just once I would like to see the media do a story about how much money the county and state were saved by those shots! We would of payed for the lawyers, housing, court costs, probably will pay for the burial which I am sure is a whole lot less. It is a shame they chose to do this but if they were successful who would be there next victims?

Many states (KS included) have added this protection against civil suit to their Castle Doctrine
or Stand Your Ground laws. A very good thing.

A shame that they chose the dark side, but once they are bad guys - I like a happy
ending where the bad guys get removed permanently and lowest possible cost.

If I lived local ,I would increase the amount of business ( or start doing business) with the store owner. Nothing wrong at all with him protecting what he had worked for all his life.

I like reading stories like this one. All too often the bad guy is made out to be the victim. Lets hope that doesn't happen here. This will probably show up in Rifleman's "The Armed Citizen". If the news media would just do it they could put a positive spin on this story about how crime will not be tolerated and if you perform illegal acts you pay the consequences.

Our local paper said no charges will be filed.

I agree with you whole heartedly, but in this case the store owner wasn't protecting what he worked hard for...he was protecting his LIFE.

No loss. I am glad the man and his wife are ok. Perhaps he should carve 2 notches into his cash register, or some other mark to watn other jackyls he bites back. Might save on his cleaning costs.

You are assuming he can put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4.
Doubtful...

One more thing to like about the area besides ZAM-11 and K94.
