Specifically asking about the powder, Unique:

One of the powders that I use for lighter .454 Casull loads is 11 grains of Unique. Coupled with the LEE 452-255-RF @ 264 grains I am getting and average of 1020 FPS and pretty good accuracy from Ruger SRH Alaskan.

I am not really concerned with increasing velocity, at this point. I just want to know, out of curiousity, what would be a max load for Unique with this type and weight of boolit.

Thanks

I havent used Unique for many years but ive had great results with Tightgroup in the 454 Casulls that i have
for loads from 1000 to 1200 fps 8 to 10 grs of TG powder with 4 different cast bullets including the lee 255 rnfp.
TG is also my go to powder for thr 357 & 44 mag for loads from 800 to 1100 fps.

Alliant's latest load manual lists 11.0 grains Unique with a 270 grain cast bullet at an MV of 1,155 fps. These loads are "maximum" per Alliant, but no pressure data is given.

This load is on page 72 of the manual.

You can work up your own maximum load however, just follow all the usual and customary protocols when doing so.
