A friend on e-mail found a lyman 311316 mold as for infomartion. I can't find it listed in any of the reference I have. What kind of mold is it (plain or gas check) and what weight does it throw??

Thanks for the information.

.............There is an adjunct website to Cast Boolit's called 'Castpics' at www.castpics.net

It contains a lot of information including old Lyman mould data, and surplus powder load data. Here's the info on that boolit:

http://www.castpics.net/RandD/Lyman_moulds/lyman08.htm

Looks remarkably like the Lee C309-113F

WW casts about .313-.314 for me, weighs in around 118-120 grs. Wonderful in the 32WCF and most 30 cals.

I think that is the classic boolit for .30 Carbine.

I have both the Lee "Soup Can" and a Lyman #311316. They are pretty close, the Lyman has a bit longer nose. The Lyman falls out almost .003" fatter than the Lee does (.311" vs. .3135"), so the Lyman is a bit more useful. Assuming good boolit fit, both designs are naturals for the smaller 30/31 caliber rifles and larger 32 caliber handguns.
