I have a lee 50 cal 360 grain mold. I cast a few bullets dropping them in a bucket of water with a cloth in the bottom. They look good, but when I slid a few into the barrel of my gun they slid in with no effort. My bought ones I have to force just to get started. Does the water "shrink" the boolit? Or do I not have the mold warm enough? Was using soft lead, they looked like the filled well. Any thoughts?

maybe cold mold ? The REAL's ft band is the only one that engraves in my 50's if its their HB Minie' mold they do go in loose and swell up when fired.Sometimes when you lube them they feel tighter as it drags a bit.

That throws a .500" conical. They load pretty easily in my rifles as well and not very accurate.

I don't know if water is doing it or not. let them air cool see if that make any difference.

Mold real soft and real hot.
By the way, which ring on the REAL contacts the bore?

With the R.E.A.L., all of my lands contact the rifleing. The first one is the wides though.
I have to pound mine in to start it, then it is hard going down.
Very accurate.

I shoot both the Lee .50 cal R.E.A.L.'s. And they are both small. They both engrave and shoot straight but I was afraid they would slide up the barrel before I shot so now I have been paper patching them. Use pure lead and don't water drop them.

If they are .500 paper patch them. Ron

Had the same problem with mine. Do what Idahoron suggested.

Are you talking about a Lee mini or maxi? You could add a little tin to make them bigger or even beagle the mould. Also are they still this loose after a fouling shot? They will tighten a little with fouling.
