Preferably 190grs-210grs, with a wide, sharp meplat. something like this:

I cant really find what I'm looking for in a .401 mold, I'm wondering if a 41mag (.410") mold could be used, and then run it through a .406" sizing die.
would that be too large of a 10mm barrel?
would that shave off too much of the bullet?

thanks

There's a 200gr WFN group buy in progress if you look in that forum. Its pretty close to what you want.

ballistic cast makes a 220

I'm not sure what your application is, but I have found that the Lyman 403168 works very well in my 610 revolver. It may be a little problematic with regard to OAL in an autoloader.

This is what my 10mm eats:

With lube it weighs 205 gr cast from isotope lead. It is from a mountain mold I got on trade. I ignore the crimp groove and seat them 1.260".

That # 996 design looks perfect!
I'm a bit surprised by the price, not that its unreasonable, I'm used to buying the LEE molds

I wonder how the accuracy is on that #965 design, that would be perfect for use with my compensated barrel under a big 'ol charge of AutoComp or AA#9. It would probably work well for making huge fireballs with BlueDot too :Fire:

2000FPS 10mm anyone? :happy dance:

there a bit pricy but no more so then an lbt mold and these molds are made out of steal and when you first get it and look at it youll surely know you werent ripped off! there probably the finest molds made anywhere. Ive wore out molds from about every manufacture but everyone of my ballistic cast molds still casts like new. Even an oaf like me cant hurt them. I can about bet my home that once you buy one it wont be your last.

keep in mind too that for a small aditional charge they will put two differnt bullets in the same block. I dont know if youd want to though with a 40 cal mold unless you opted for a 4 cav mold. I did it often with bullets for the 475 500 line and 50alaskan because a guy just doent go out and shoot much more then a hundred at a time but with the 10 youd probably want a bit more production. Someting else my buddy and i used to do is to go together and buy a 2 cav with two bullets in it just to try them and if a certain bullet did well in our guns wed then buy our own 2 cav version or that bullet and sell the origianal 2 bullet mold or one of us would keep it. I dont know about the new owners but the last owners would also help you design your own bullet. they also would allow something like putting a gas check on that 220 if that interested you. the fee to do it wasnt bad either.

Here's a 220gr bullet from Mountain Molds that I got recently. The spec was 215, but they weigh 220 lubed. I designed it for maximum case capacity; it's shorter than a 200gr XTP. I also designed it to function with either 10mm or 40 S&W brass, loaded to 1.260".

I'm pushing these over 1300 fps avg from my G20 longslide.

The bullet on the left is also a 220gr, but sized down from a .41 cal Mihec mold. You can see the length difference.

yondering: That is a really interesting bullet. What do you put in the case to make it go 1300fps in a G20? Can you use it with .40S&W brass and make it headspace on the bullet in the 10mm chamber or is that for revolver use only? I love the massive length of bearing surface.

I would be interested in the spec to put an order down with Mountain Molds as well.

I'm using AA9 for the 1300+ fps loads. Keep in mind this is a 6.6" barreled long slide setup, not a stock G20. Also, powder volume required for this with AA9 is just over 100% with hand sorted brass; some brands don't have enough volume.

I use it with 40S&W brass in the 10mm barrel. In most guns this is a no-no, but the Glock doesn't have the possible danger of most other 10mm's, of firing when the case is in front of the extractor. (The firing pin isn't long enough) I've never had an issue of a case jumping the extractor in this gun anyway; function has been 100% with 40 S&W brass.

I'll post the bullet specs in a minute. Here's a pic of the gun, except I got rid of the adjustable sights.

OK, this is the mold I ordered. It drops just a bit over .402" (perfect, IMO), and weighs 219-220gr from my wheel weight alloy.

If I were to order this mold again, I would change it as shown below, to move the lube groove forward on the bullet .030", and make the lube capacity larger. This sacrifices a little case capacity, but I think would be easier to eliminate leading, with the thicker rear driving band.

Do you size to .401 or .402?

yondering

Assuming you're asking me - I'm currently using a Lone Wolf 10mm barrel, which comes with a pretty tight chamber and throat, so I size to .401".

Thank you. It was very kind of you to post the whole bullet schematic.
