On your webpage, you indicate they are harder at 12.5 bhn. Any idea of the alloy ratio? I kept mine separate based on your info. Got a couple hundred pounds of just the plugs.

Thanks

I don't know the ratio. They seem to have more antimony than they rest. At first I thought they were just cast very hot since they seem "frosty" and that the extra point was a side effect. But ingots cast of them also tested slightly harder.

They don't exhibit the better fill out I would expect if the tin had been boosted. Not that they fill out bad, just not quite the same look as a boolit with 2% or more tin.

It could be some other grain refiner like copper or sulfur, but I doubt that.

I give! What are isotope core plugs?

They are a weird shaped plug, kind of like a cork for a bottle that plugs the top of 21+ and 31+ pound lead shipping containers for radiopharmacueticals.

Thanks

Yikes! Are they hot?? Have you ever checked one with an exposure meter? Where do you find them? You have me intrigued.

They're safe. Do a search here,
this question has come up.

Good info here too:

Squibload- Where would someone look for these? Just generic, not asking for your source.

People sell them here quite often.

Yep, easiest way to find is to buy 'em here!
I found some small caps at a scrapyard that I think are for isotope containers.
Good thing is they are usually clean (unless painted or coated) and pretty good alloy.
Some guys have posted here that radio-type pharmacies will give 'em up.
I haven't found one yet.
I think they have to let 'em sit for a month before they can get rid of 'em, although
the amount of radiation they get from the medicines is minimal.

Some are cool in 3 hrs. & some in 120 days , it depends on the contents it had to shield .

The 21# core are ok in 15 days while the 32# take 32 , this is from my source of isotope lead .

Most of the small containers contain radio active iodine which they use to find blockages in our hearts & it`s life span is only hrs.

When I pick some up they have geiger counters all over te place !!
