Little club gathering at the local church, half block from my house.
The church bells on Sunday morning are pleasant to hear echoing down the street, but today there are a few toys on the front lawn and everyone is enjoying the sights.
Had to get a couple pics of one that a few of us here might like to see ...didn't stop to ask, but is that a "fifty" mounted on it ?.
Somebody's special project ......

Man, that brings back memories from my post-WW2 childhood when the local Army Reserve used to have a display at the county fair where they let us little kids fire the MG.

Also looks like an anti-decapitation device mounted on the front bumper.

That's a fifty mounted on it and if you look closely it has a blank firing adaptor on the muzzle. Not normal to see that type of magazine on a vehicle mount though. It looks like a 200 rd magazine off of an anti-aircraft mount, either a single gun (single guns that used that magazine normally had a water jacket) or a quad fifty. Vehicle mounts normally just used the standard .50 cal ammo can that had IIRC 100 belted rounds in it.

Ma Duce and a case of Jack what else do you need?

It looks like a Browning 30 cal machine gun with its ammo belt in the passenger seat. What a well equipped unit. I wonder what other goodies are in it.

I first thought this might be some kind of military rig, but with the gun and case of jack, it has to be a texas hog hunting rig.

If you're referring to my post, I was talking about the M1919 Browning that is muzzle down in the passenger seat. There is also an ammo belt for it hanging out of the passenger door.

Yes, I can see the M2 on the mount, and I agree it's not a 30 caliber.

Man! Thanks for enhancing the photos to show those details. This Jeep sure beats what The Rat Patrol drove! Especially in the recreational department, those poor guys chasing Rommel in North Africa should have had it so good! ;-)

Yikes! Maybe it's just my dirty imagination, but is the name of that rubber company on the crate a play on homonyms?

Slap my potty mouth if I’m wrong.

Hmmm, ElDorado, that's good! In industry, the name for a low temperature Thermos bottle is a "Dewer Flask", but it is pronounced "day-WEAR" and not "do 'er". Dewer flasks are what small amounts of liquid nitrogen are kept in. In the photo, though, we of course know what is kept in those.

Now I want to know what's in the other crates? Whoever owns that rig has a sense of humor.

Nice photos, digger. I always enjoy seeing some living history. Yeah, I'll bet the church crowd did a double take on the case of Jack and "rubbers". Nice to have someone with a sense of humor. I always said that man's sixth sense was the sense of humor. BC

There are a couple of local guys that have restored Bantam jeeps in the area and every now and then you can see one driving around town. They are really tiny compared to a modern jeep. (Butler is where the jeep was invented, at the American Bantam Car Company) There were a bunch of restored WWII jeeps in town last year, for the jeep festival. If you want to see more photos of restored WWII jeeps, even one parked in front of the building where they were made, (second row, last picture) google- Bantam Jeep Festival Pictures.
