My wife brought home a handful of think lead pieces that come from dental x-rays. Are these ok to use as pure/soft lead boolits?

Yes lead is lead and even after years of shielding radiation it is safe to use there is one time it can cause problems never melt lead with isotopes in it as they are unsafe!

Speaking of isotopes, I may have a chance of scoring a BIG load of isotope lead. Doesn't anyone know the make (the percentages of lead and other metals) of this lead?

the big ones are usually 1/3/96 and the little ones are 2.5/2.5/95

Lefty, jump on it. Most of it will be 1/3/96 tin/antimony/lead. The blue xenon vials will be higher in tin. Anything that shielded iodine will be pure lead.

My last haul was 2300 lbs.

I have a webpage here (http://fellingfamily.net/isolead/) that gives basic information. I don't specify alloy content here, but do have hardness values I got from my lee hardness test kit, and do stipulate what is pure vs alloy. I don't have photos up of the purple or blue iodine pigs, but you will know them for sure if you get some.

Good luck!

WEll now, sounds like that stuff is just right and ready for the production pot! IF I get it I'll keep it in a seperate pile from my WW and stick on WW.

I've been getting those dental xray pieces for over a year now from a buddy who is a dentist. A plastic ziplock bag of them every other month. Joe
