My bucket is full of brass I'll never use, so it's time to bring it in to the scrap dealer. What is the going price? What do they call used brass in the scrap business? Is it yellow brass or just scrap brass. Last time I did this a few years ago I was paid about $2-3 / lb

I get about $1.80 for brass in my area. They classify used brass in my area as yellow brass but your results may vary. If you have brass shell casings then they will go for less to a scrap yard but if its just miscellaneous brass pieces it will most likely be yellow brass

Here they call it " fired shell casings " My local pays $1/lb. South of here is the Quad City area. The scrap dealers there pay anywhere from 0.05-0.25/lb.

Last week I got $2.98 for clean yellow brass and $2 86 for brass sheet.
Fired cases and fired primers are "Brass Sheet".
I have found some scrap dealers who will not buy brass casings or primers. They say it can not be sold to their Chinese buyers. Something about importing firearms.

Pardon my ignorance, but would it make a difference if the cases were flattened with a hammer or the like?

Is this brass truly scrap or are there calibers and the like that some of us could turn into projectiles? You could offer a FRB of brass if usable for scrap price for the ppl who might want to turn it into something..
