I want to try my hand at casting wheel weight bullets. Can anyone suggest what Lee molds to use for the following rifles? 30-06,308,K-31 and 7.62x54R. I was thinking about using 150 grain bullets but please make your suggestions. Your suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Buy the 312-185 gr mould. They run a little undersized so the 312 nominal will size to 311 down to 309 and should work in all but the musty nugget. The russian rifles may take up to a 313 bullet from the ones I have. The 312 can be lapped out to work though.

The 312 "beagled" will work for the 303 brits or 7.62x54s too as it bumps up to between 314 and 316 depending on how you do it. This procedure doesn't require permanent changes to the mold so you could go to 315 back to 311 later to cast for all your guns.

You can find info on beagling your mold here:

..............mikeh3, welcome to the board! It's a wonnerfull world, cast bullets :-). Just my suggestion here, but why not begin with the 30 cals first? The -'06 and 308 should hold no surprises as to land and groove, throat or anything else. The K31 should also prove to be easy to get going. Try starting with the Lee 160 or 180gr for all three.

Once you have those nailed, get the Lyman 314299 mould for the Rooski. That mould will handle any groove's to .314". And if your 7.62x54R is a M91 or M91/30 you might need the extra girth. Or start with the Rooski and THEN do the 30's! Don't get yourself bogged down to start.
