In Response To: 06 saami chamber is pretty generous (Anvil Jenkins)

If the cartridge chambers easily, its probably safe to fire, even if the bullet is larger than the groove diameter.

I haven't lost an eye yet.

The only way we find stuff like this out is to have someone try it, and since I've been pretty invincible over the years, its usually me.

I think I've only had 2 catastrophic failures over the years.

One was a .22 caliber rifle that I loaded with a blank cartridge, poured birdshot down the barrel, topped it off with a wad of tissue paper, and fired. Blew the bolt cover off the gun, bent the receiver, blew the bolt up at a 45 degree angle, and partially blinded me for about two weeks. That one happened when I was 14ish

The other one....Its hard to remember that one, because of this piece of iron stuck in my brain.....
