I know this should go into the other forums but My uncle has passed away at 87.. He lived in Canon city Colorado. WW2 vet. POW for 9 months. He was a proud member of the 45th division thunderbirds. 179th company F second battalion. Went through Anzio-southern france invasion-wounded and became a POW at the battle of Meximieux. He was just west of the city at a roadblock when the 11th panzer division came through and decimated his squad. He told me he was the only one who made it from his squad.. BAR man-got out of the army-became a CPA and lived a great life with a great family. I gotta go... the tears are making it hard to type.. they just don't make them likr that any more.. RIP Lyle Jacobson

Good morning
Those empty places in life do heal. May God give you all peace.
Uncles can be great friends. My uncle was on carriers out on the big blue. Never said much about it.. He kindly sold me my first center fire rifle a Marlin 336 in caliber .32 Win. Special.

My prayer is that the Lord grant you His peace. This too will heal. Reminds me of my dad (air transport command out of India) and my uncle (engineers-both theaters) and how they never talked about their service time except for the few funny stories. I never really understood until I visited the D-Day Museum in New Orleans, saw the exhibits and talked to the docents who are guys who were there. All I can say is that they were truly the greatest generation. Goat
