took the step daughter out a few weeks ago. 1st time she has shot so she was pretty antisy. we set up a few clays for her and after she got the first hit, It was on. she shot about 60-70 shots and was banging them off (6 clays) pretty quick and on target. Usally she dont get very excited but she was running back and forth (50 yrds and faster than mom could load the clip). so next time we went out i let her play with the ar and i think she liked it.

Nice going camaro1st. Just wish I had grandkids I could take shooting. It warms my heart to see young 'uns enjoying the shooting sports.

Yeah, have her clean up the sitting position and/or teach her the kneeling position. Also the use of a "hasty" sling will improve her shooting as well.

Thanks for teaching the younger generation about shooting. BC

I hear that. . .

Still remember the first time I took our (adopted) daughter to the range. She's legally blind in her right eye, but is right-handed, so we did a bit of adjusting on her sight picture. She got it down FAST and was shooting the eight and nine-ring out of the bullseye targets at 25' with my Mod 19 2 1/2" barrel and some 105SWC mouseloads.

The grin on her eighteen-year-old face was priceless.

What was priceless for ME, however, was how much she always remembered from one outing to the next about shooting stance, posture, breathing, sight picture and especially safety.

Some of THE fondest memories I'll ever have in my entire life involve "father-daughter" outings we took in the airplane and at the shooting ranges.

She turns 21 next month, has one incredibly outstanding boyfriend, and is becoming so self-sufficient and independent that I don't hear from her as much as I used to.

I miss that, but at the same time, it is cause for joy and celebration. I love that young lady with every fiber of my being.

Good job, camaro1st. VERY good job.

we are going to be working on her positions, we was kind of tring to see how she was going to get along with the rifles. if you look you will notice in the first pic she is shooting right handed and in the second left. She is left handed and right eye dom. but said it felt better lefty. I'm right handed but left eye dom. so i shoot south paw. We've been working on her stance and to get the feel so its not so odd for her. The smile on her face tells me we're not done not even close to it. Thanks guys for your input.

Way to go Camaro1st.I can't what for my Grandchildren to be old enough to go shooting, but have a wait ahead of me.Their only 3yrs,2yrs,and 10 months. The 2 yr old already knows how to blow a duck call and can identify some ducks and fish. His father is teaching him right. He can sometimes get a goose call to break over.Teach her respect for the firearms and firearm safety. It will go along way

camaro1st,
Good for you and her!
We have been so busy with sports, Cub scouts, church and family stuff that none of us have gotten much time to shoot.
One more week and things will slow down and we will be able to get to the range behind the house and get some shoothing done.
Good luck with her shooting, jmsj

Start them young, teach them right, promote safety and fun, and you may have a life long shooter!
