Is this pure lead? I melted it from lead sheet that was used as radiation shielding. The lead disc was made by pouring it into the bottom of an aluminum can. You can see the crystal on the ingot. The big 1lb and 1/2 lb ingots of this same lead are a purple/straw color.

I don't know if I'd say it's pure, but it's pretty close. As I understand it, those crystaline patterns are caused by antimony in the alloy. The greater the amount of antimony, the smaller and finer the grain pattern is. Those ingots look a lot like my stick on wheel weight ingots in pattern. I use them as if they are pure lead.

Drop it on concrete and if it just thumps without any kind of ring ding ting it will be very close to pure. Pure lead will just go thud with no resonance at all. You also can score it with your finger nail easily.
