I ordered the 215 gr. 8MM Karibiner mold from Midsouth and got it today. I fired up the pot and ran a batch from straight WWs. The 'as cast' is .326 and it weighs in with GC at almost 238 grs. That was a pleasant surprise as I had wanted the 8MM max mold and they didn't have it. As it turns out, I got a good, heavy boolit to play with.

That's my idea of a boolit. How does it fit the throat?

I bought one or the other of those molds. The resulting bullet wouldn't chamber in any of three 8mm's I own. The boys that designed them got a little carried away in my opinion.

Jim,
Ever LEE-Ment a mould before?

That one looks like it's a prime candidate, I see vent lines that aren't going completely to the cavity and burrs on the cavities as well.

Chambers fine in my Turk. It all depends on what you got.

I've got one of the old Lee SC 'Karabiner' moulds that drops .3265 and 205 gr (w/o GC) from my Lyman #2/Lino alloy. No problem chambering in any of my 8x57s and best boolit I've found for my '43 Kale Turk.

This boolit was designed for well worn throats and will not fit all rifles. It does however fit mine perfectly, with 35gr H4895 it shoots about 1,850fps in my rifle.

Since I have the design and specs and have an original first run 6 cavity Karabiner mold that was cut to spec and fits all my 8mms including the two that were part of the throat casts.......... I would point you toward the people who made the mold out of spec.

Some new throats were in that bunch of throat casts......... and as i'm the only one who saw all of them, there isn't a whole lot of difference between new and somewhat worn. The Karabiner was fitted so that well worn also fit well. The well worn business came from dealings between Oldfeller and Midsouth.
