Does anyone have any experience with shooting cast Boolits from an AR-15? I am looking at a RCBS .225 55 grn. mold.

I shoot the Lyman 225415, 55 grain version in a 1:9 twist AR. I use WC820. No problems, but I'm only driving them around 1800 fps. I think you can go as high as 2400 or so with a 1:12. I just use wheel weight metal, air cooled.

Do you get the AR to cycle?

This is out of a 1 in 12 twist barrel so your mileage will vary

I have a NOE 60gr mold and I use 16gr H4895, nice and light, just enough umph to cycle a carbine length gas upper of my sons. We also cast for a few other uppers, but they are all larger than 5.56.

Use the search engine for this forum, you will find more information than you probably want to wade through. It will answer your question though and then, considering the wide variation in .223 ARs, you can narrow the scope of the question down a little.

To basically answer the question; yes, many of us do shoot cast bullets in AR .223s.
