I was wondering if anyone has or has experience with the RCBS .454 270 gr. SAA mould. Thanks for any info.

Do you have the mold number? I think I have an older 45 cal mold out there somewhere.. I'll go check..

I have that mold but have not cast any bullets yet.I have a Bisley blackhawk in 45 Colt. I have heard that bullet mentioned quite often. All reports I've have heard are good .Good luck ,Jeff Taylor.

Yes, I have that mould. It is an excellent bullet! It weighs about 282 grains when cast of WW alloy. One of my favorite .45 Colt loads is that bullet over 13.0 grains of HS-6 for about 1000 fps (for strong modern guns only).

I have been using that mold also for several years. Like Glen my bullets comes out at 181 grains from air cooled wheelweight. They cast at .4535. I run them through a .454 sizer and load them over 20/4227.

I should have started this thread in the Classified Section but at that time I didn't have 25 post yet but my question now is can I purchase about 100 of these bullets unsized or lubed from one of you fantastic gentlemen(butter up mode on). I have 2 guns I need to try them in before I commit to buying a mould, if one of my guns like this size/weight bullets I might still have time to get in on the Group buy going on for a similar bullet on the Forum. Thanks.
