Hi, just joined your awesome forum. I have been lurking for a while and thought it was time to join up..
I live in New Zealand..not joined by a bridge to Australia, but close..:-)

I am new to reloading and casting ( about 6 months new) and currently load for .357 , .303., .223 and 12 gauge.

Reloading is great and cast lead has been a natural progression....really addictive.

I hope to also load/cast for 7.62x39 and 45-70 when the budget down under allows.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Welcome to the Nuthouse, Sarge! We have a couple of very active NZ members here, you're in good company. Shooting cast in those calibers is a cinch if you follow a few basic guidelines for correct sizing, reasonably appropriate alloys, powder choice, lube choice, and use the right tools. You'll need an extra die for the x39 to bellmouth the case neck for cast, the 45/70 sets usually come with one. Lots of good info here, check out the classics/stickys and don't be afraid to use the "search" function, and if you don't have a copy of the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 3rd or 4th edition, I would recommend adding it to your list of "must haves".

NZSarge,
Welcome to our addiction!
You'll find this to be a great place to hang out and learn things. Let me reccomend that you read the Glen Fryxell article book "From Ingot to Target: A Cast Bullet Guide for Handgunners"
http://www.lasc.us/Fryxell_Book_Contents.htm
Lot's of good info in there and it covers the basics and a lot more.
Good luck, jmsj

Gidday,
Wifey from Palmy
Once I even made the trip there; lovely spot sort of a one rung higher on the pathway to heaven. I might even get there again. I want to fish trout in Lake Taupo.

Keep your powder dry,

Max
