So this morning i called about an ad on craigslist about lead for sale. I called him and he said he had a few thousand pounds of wheel weights and wanted 40 cents a pound. That's not a bad price around here so I said I would take 250 pounds.

When I went to go pick them up my wife and son came along and just sat in the car while we loaded the lead in my vehicle. I then handed him the hundred dollars and he asked me if he could ask my wife a question. I said yes and he walked to her side of the car, he then handed her the money and said i dont really need this and to put it into our sons college fund.

I couldn't believe it and neither could my wife. Its comforting to know that there are still some decent people out there. On top of that he actually gave me about 330 pounds of weights and said he has about a ton of them go through his hands a month. So i also have a long term source of lead too.

Outstanding! I've found that the folks who reload/cast are typically very good people who are always willing to lend a hand. These people also tend to live by the rule where a man's word is his bond, and a handshake still means something. Glad you found one of the really good ones.

Get all you can from him, and make sure you give a meaningful gift of something he will like and use. You may have found a life long friend.

Peter King (writes for Sports Illustrated) wrote in an article not long ago that when he goes to WI to cover the Packers, the people he runs into are always the nicest of any in the country. Sounds like your new friend is living proof.

That's great! And you're right, there are still good folks around. He needs to be remembered around the holidays.
