tuesday i bought all the equipment, wednesday i smelted the lead i had into ingots, and today i cast bullest all day, i bought a lee 6 cavity mold, 228gr 45cal,

the mold worked great from the very first cast to the last, no complaints,

i cast between 3500 and 4000 boolets today and really enjoyed it,

thanks to all the people who contribute to this site and share their know-how, i read about casting for a couple of months before jumping in

Before my back got older than the rest of me I could cast that many at one time. But for the first time with a new batch of alloy, I cast a few, size 'em (if needed) lube 'em, load 'em and fire the test lot. Then I go into full scale production if the new alloy does what I want. Hasn't happened often, but melting and recasting is a chore I'd prefer to avoid.

First thing I thought of after reading your post. I pray everything works out. I have had to remelt my casting before, and did not much like it.

This is good advice especially since your new. Its much easier to make changes to a small batch than a 4000 round batch.

Let us know if they shoot.

Ah, the bane of the cast boolit. You can have perfect looking boolits, a low smoking lube that insures they don't lead the bore, and perfect fit. THEN, find out that the alloy doesn't shoot worth beans. It can be maddening and satisfying.

Welcome to the insanity...

Welcome Pastor. You might not want to size all of them until you find what size your gun likes, or you could end up like GP100man.
