I’ve been reloading since I was 10 years old. My father was a trap shooter and I have great memories of reloading shotgun shells with him in the garage. There was something about taking an empty shell that most people discard and resurrecting it into an all powerful package ready for a day in the field hunting dove or at the range shooting clays.

As I got older I found I preferred handguns to shotguns and reloading really enhanced my enjoyment of the sport. Its kind of weird but I get a feeling of satisfaction when I ask the guy next to me if he is going to keep his 45 brass and he says no, I can have it. As I pick it up I feel like a kid finding Easter eggs, little golden treasures hidden on the range floor.

I take it home and polish my ugly range brass to a factory shine as I look with satisfaction at buckets full of golden 45 acp doubloons like a pirate would his booty. Recently, I made a deal with the range that they would sell me unsorted brass for next to nothing so now I’m sorting all the time and I have more brass than I can shoot in a lifetime. And not just 45 I have tons of brass in every caliber. Im buying guns just because I now have the brass for them. I just bought a 9mm, I dont even like 9MM's.

The same range sells me range led by the bucket full for a very good price so I also have lead everywhere in my garage. When I’m not sorting, brass I’m casting boolits and when I’m not doing that I’m reloading on a Dillon 550 I just bought. I have 14K primers, powder out the rear end and I cant sleep because primers are getting scarce again and I don’t think I have enough reloading stuff. If I only had enough stuff to load 50 or 60 thousand rounds maybe I’d feel better…or maybe not.

I guess what I’m asking is; Are you any of you guys like me or am I nuts?

We're all in good company. Enablers. Idea people. I need that new mold. I don't think I have enough tin. Can't pass up that lead buy. It's so much fun, though.... enjoy Mike

Yes you have a problem you are not buying molds as fast as they are offered. I have so many molds now thanks to the kind folks here that offer them.
As to having to many pieces of brass of given caliber is that possible, primers now that is an on going issue. Do I have enough on hand, did I reload enough the last time I reloaded and most of all does the store have enough on the shelf and will my wallet allow me to buy what I want and feel I need.

Yes you are very sick and also you found the right group to hang with we will most likely corrupt you to be more like us any day now.

I think you are okay for the moment, but you are walking a very thin line..you might try bumping that primer count up another 10k. I think that may help to get you back on track. Also be sure and keep an eye on availability in the future and act accordingly...this will help to alleviate the symptoms somewhat...if these anxiety attacks become worse, come back here and we'll help all we can...you're welcome..

HA! You need more primers! 14K is a good start. Consider the last OBAMA shortage, it was taking 6-9m to get primers. Like you, I pick up brass all the time & don;t need most of it. I found out the local range I shoot IDPA scoops it up & sells it for SCRAP! What a waste fo good brass, so I pick up quite a bit when I am there.

Only 14K primers? Good Lord, you are out! I have 75K plus and buy more at every gunshow if the sellers aren't smoking crack when they price them. Only have a ton of lead, must go scrounging. And brass, I need more brass.

Yep. You're crazy as a loon. Just like everyone else here on this forum. We eat, sleep and dream of brass, lead, tin, antimony, moulds, powder, primers and GUNS. And dies, sizers, lubricators, loob grooves, etc. Only way to kick the habit is to sell everything and find a new hobby. But then that's no fun!!! BC

Reloading is almost like kleptomania - you can always take something for it.:kidding:

I fail to spot the problem you might have.

My wife quit asking me to escort her when she goes shopping at the flea markets, thrift stores, etc. because I kept coming home with brass candlesticks, ash trays, figurienes, etc. and we don't smoke, or use candles and the trash shelves have been full years. There is something about brass that is just good for the soul.
