Well I know that as long as Pat's had this stuff listed there has to be plenty who stocked up on it. I know I did,

I am loading .357's, 41,'s 44's and 454's with it with various J and cast boolits.

All of mine is of the same lot as I purchased it at one time, not sure if there were different lots numbers or not. I have found mine runs just a tad slower than 296 that I had been using, in the following cases,
.357 - .5grs slower per charge,
41mag - 1.5gr slower
44 mag - 2 grains slower
454 - 2.5'ish grains slower

These results were obtained by working up with weighed loads to duplicate known velocities with equal bullet weights in these revolvers.

Just wandering how many others have found this to be true and what loads your using in the different calibers, and bullet weights.

Here is a short list of mine.
.357 - 1158gr RFP Oregon Trail 15grs gets me right at 1250fps
41mag - 200gr Rem SJHP takes 21.5 to hit 1325fps where 20.5 of 296 hits 1300fps.
44mag - 240gr Rem SJHP takes 25grs to hit 1300fps where 23.5 of 296 hits mid 1350's.
454 Casul uses 28grs of 296 under a 260gr JHP to hit 1650 where it takes 28.5-30grs to hit there with 297. The Lee 300gr RFP hits 1550 using 28grs but I haven't tried it with the 296 as I am out of it now.

I only bring this up as there are no newer post on this powder and there have to be folks using it, just wanted to know in what and how your loads are working out for you.

pretty close to your results if you knock a half a grain off your figures but that could be just the differnce in lot nos. I bought mine about 5 years ago. Its an excellent powder though for mag pistol, rounds like the 22hornet and 50 beowulf too.
