Was looking on line for some 270 gas checks.
I've never had a use for them before, but with a new mold coming for my rifle I thought I'd better check some out.

I saw Hornady checks for 26.00 per k at Midway.
Then I saw some Lyman checks on Evilbay for 48 per k and thought he was trolling for suckers.
So I did a search for 270 Lyman checks and found he was about the right price for them.
What would be the difference between Hornady & Lyman checks?
Is one better than another?

current Lyman are made by Hornady.Old Lyman were non crimping.Lyman just wants too much for their repackaged checks.

Lyman's are friction fit; Hornady's are crimp-on. They don't have any moving parts; buy the cheapest you can find from a reputable seller.

Have you checked out DJ's GatorChecks? Go to the "Group Buy Login" link below and see what he has in stock. Most of his checks are less than $30/1000 shipped.

The Hornady gas checks work perfectly fine for me. I saw the Lyman checks at Midway too...just get the Hornady ones from Midway.

They are the same check. Lyman buys them from Hornady and marks them up. ( I expect they are required by Hornady to do that as a condition of being able to buy them.)

I have looked here and on a couple of other sites but I can't find any for less than Midway charges for the Hornady. They are so light that if you order anything else the shipping for the checks is free.

Whoops, I posted in the wrong area.
I should have looked a little harder.
I get too carried away on occasion.
Someone else asked the exact question I did on gas checks.

I usually buy my stuff at MidSouth, but it would appear that Widener's has them all beat on the Hornady's (these are prices for 1000 35 cal Gas Checks)...

24.38 - Midsouth Shooters Supply
24.29 - Midway
27.35 - Natchez Shooters Supply
26.49 - Sinclair Intl.
26.59 - Grafs
23.00 - Widener's

I like wideners for their cheap .224 projos... I guess next time I order cheap fodder for my AR, I'll add in a box of gas checks!

Edit: This obviously doesn't include shipping which is usually a minimum of $11.00. so Blammer's deal below is better if you are only ordering gas checks.

$20 for 1,000 270 cal
$8 shipping for up to 5,000 GC's

so basically for 1,000 270 cal GC's $28 shipped to you, if you want.

Good price there Blammer.
At the moment I'm laid off and I need to wait till I get back to work before I feel comfortable about spending money on something I don't need right now.
BUT, when I get back to work and my molds come in, you will be the first one I go to for checks.
