I have been holding on to various PB projectiles knowing that the day would come i will use them. Recently picked up a Ruger BH .357 6 1/2" 3screw, now the fun begins.

I have lots of .38spl brass and 100pcs of .357brass
HS6 / Unique / Win261, hope to have 2400 soon

Projectiles all Hordnay:
#1040 .358 / 158gr SWC
#3582 .358 / 148gr H.B.W.C.
#3586 .358 / 158gr RN

can I use all of these in .357 or .38spl loads?

These all seem to be a Tumble Lube style boolit? They have a dry coating on them and assuming they have been sitting for quite some time. I added some Liquid Xlox to a few of the SWC last night in the hope to shoot them this week. I'm more concerned with them not having lube grooves and i'm not familiar with this style. Don't want to lead up a new to me weapon.

Thanks
DWD

Yes ... in both 38 Spcl and 357 Magnum. But if you go much beyond 800-1,000 fps you're very likely to get heavy leading in your bore. These Hornady bullets are swaged soft lead meaning they're not cast but squeezed into the form Hornady wants to market. That process requires a very soft material. They probably contain a small percentage of Antimony.

Decades ago I loaded and shot many in my Blackhawk that was also a three screw circa 1967. My experience with them, and factory soft lead 357 Magnum ammunition, is what ultimately pushed me into casting. The LLA may help somewhat, but basically they are not designed for magnum velocities.

Absolutely.

I would not recommend 2400 in the .38 Special.
I have done it and don't like it. That said, you probably will not notice the difference in the Ruger.

PLEASE! Do not load .357 loads in the .38 Special cases.

It will not harm your BlackHawk but sooner or later one of those hot loads will get lost and some year down the road, it will find it's way into a .38 special revolver.

hornady's are swaged with lead and 5% antimony.
they are designed for low velocity target loads.
i'd look at 700-800 fps loads to get what they will give.
